In addition to our regular monthly working bees and weekly planting and watering sessions, we hold other workshops and events at the garden.
Join us in the garden on the third Sunday of every month from 10 am to 1 pm. We work together on whatever needs doing: planting, weeding, harvesting, garden maintenance, turning the compost, etc. We share morning tea together at 11 am, and afterwards, there is usually a good harvest for members to take home. New and aspiring members are always welcome!
Head down to Bunnings Fairfield on Darebin Road and support the garden by buying a sausage (or three!!)

We celebrated the shortest day of the year with a fire, good food, good company, and ample mulled wine!
As a reward for all our hard work at our June Working Bee, we made soup from our home-grown pumpkins and enjoyed a hot lunch at the garden in the winter sunshine.
Members gathered in the garden to set up new scarecrows (made by Bruce, our artist-in-residence) and cook a batch of delicious pesto pasta with our home-grown basil. A wonderful evening of fun, food and artistic expression!
Our 2024 Open Garden was a great success, with music, produce stalls, and a raffle. We enjoyed showcasing our garden to the neighbourhood, and gained several new members too! Big thanks to the volunteers who helped to organise this special day.
An exciting day, in a fun relaxed atmosphere where people could explore their hopes and dreams for our garden. Garden design ideas were workshopped in small teams by building a model of the proposed garden.
With an abundance of produce, members take the opportunity to produce pesto to share. Its a perfect opportunity to build friendships and social connection between members.
Members have gathered to celebrate the changing seasons and give thanks to garden and the community who support it.
With shared morning teas or lunches, there is always room to share fabulous cake, soup or savoury recipes to those who are interested.
The Events team has hosted three successful movie nights over the last two years for members and their friends. There is nothing like sitting outside in the garden watching a favourite old movie while eating ice cream.
Since starting, the Marra Guwiyap Community Garden has hosted a Garden Launch and an annual Open Garden as a way of celebrating our community and all we have achieved. These are important opportunities to welcome new members and have a great time together.
